A dissemination programme was planned in the city of Pokhara, Kaski District. The programme was jointly conducted with the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 6 May 2019. Invitations were sent to important industries including members of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pokhara Metropolitan City, District Coordination Committee, Pokhara Industrial District Management, and Pokhara Industrial District Industry Association etc.
During 7th Partner meeting that took place in Bhairahawa, Nepal during 26-29 January 2019, the team members were invited by Panchakanya Group of Industries in Kotihawa to visit their steel plant (Panchakanya Steels Pvt. Ltd.), which produces TMT steel bars and wire drawing plant (Panchakanya Wires Pvt. Ltd.), which produces Steel Torkari and Binding Wire and to see the implemented RECP measures.
The 7th METABUILD project meeting took place during 26-29 January 2019 at Bhairahawa, Nepal.
On 5th December, 2018- training on RECP held for the METABUILD partner companies from cable sector. The training workshop took place at Ramna Restaurant, Wari, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
In order to embed RECP in the METABUILD partnering sectors, it is necessary to train the industry owners. As indicated in the action plan, there should be RECP trainings for the industries every year of the project. The main goal of these trainings is to create awareness about resource & energy efficiency and to increase the implementations of suggested RECP measures.
RECP training for the METABUILD partner companies from Bakelite Cluster took place at Shopno Bilash Community Centre, Dania, Dhaka on 4th December, 2018.
During initial assessment of ABC Electrical Ind. Ltd it was found that compressors used in the factory were obsolete and havingleakages. While submitting the initial assessment report factory owner informed METABUILD team that he would appoint a maintenance engineer and designate him to supervise suggested options. On this regard, owner requested to METABUILD team to provide necessary training on RECP for factory personnel.
During assessment in Cable Manufacturing Industry it was found that extruder machines were kept on continuously during work hours due to lack of auto cut-off and no proper temperature controlling takes place, moreover there is no insulation in the extruder machine which causes significant heat losses.
During assessment in Bakelite cluster it was found that heaters of hand-pressing machines were kept turned on continuously during work hours as auto cut-off was not being used and no proper temperature controlling took place.
METABUILD team represented by Mr. Stefan Melnitzky (AREC), Mr. Mihir Sharma (STENUM) and Technical consultants (Mr. Nasif & Mr. Shuvo) could meet with supplier for electrical switches (Farhan Electric & Boiler).
